Apple Data Recovery in Sydney, Trusted Australia-Wide
When an Apple device fails, the data on it usually matters far more than the hardware itself. NexusByte recovers photos, documents, messages and business files from iPhones, iPads, iMacs and MacBooks for clients across Sydney and every corner of Australia.
Apple's tight integration of hardware, encryption and storage makes recovery on these devices genuinely different from standard PC work. Our technicians understand the quirks of Fusion Drives, soldered SSDs, T2 security chips and iOS encryption, and we tell you upfront what is realistic before any work begins.
Every job starts with a free assessment and a plain-English explanation of your options. If we cannot get your data back, you pay nothing — that is our No Fix, No Fee promise.
Our Apple data recovery services include:

Apple devices demand a different recovery mindset. Rushing in with generic tools can turn a recoverable situation into a permanent loss.
Before anything is opened or powered on, we document the device, its symptoms and its history. From there we choose the least invasive path first: logical recovery where the storage still responds, and hardware-level work only when it is genuinely required. Because so much Apple storage is encrypted by design, we are clear about which credentials we need from you and what simply cannot be unlocked without them. You receive an honest report of what we found, what is recoverable and what it will cost before you commit to anything.
Free upfront assessment on every device
Least-invasive recovery method chosen first
Honest advice about encryption limits
Specialised Apple recovery tooling
Secure, documented handling throughout
The result is a recovery process you can actually understand, with no surprises at the end.

Business files and documents restored
Data delivered on secure media
Before you pay anything, we confirm exactly which files have been recovered so you can make an informed decision.
How Our Apple Recovery Process Works
Every device follows the same transparent path from arrival to return, whether you drop it off in Sydney or post it from anywhere in Australia.
1. Get in Touch
Call or send an enquiry describing your device and what happened. We will tell you straight away whether recovery is worth attempting and how to ship the device safely if you are outside Sydney.
2. Free Assessment
Our technicians examine the device, identify the fault and determine which recovery method gives your data the best chance. This assessment costs you nothing.
3. Quote and Approval
You receive a clear quote along with an honest outline of the likely outcome. No work proceeds until you approve it.
4. Recovery
We carry out the recovery using specialised Apple tooling, keeping your device and data secure and documented at every stage.
5. Verification and Return
We verify the recovered files with you, then return your data on secure media along with your original device. If nothing recoverable was found, you owe nothing.
Apple data recovery is the retrieval of files, photos and messages from Macs, MacBooks, iMacs, iPhones and iPads that will no longer start, have failed after a drop or spill, or have lost data to a failed update or accidental erase. It also covers the quieter cases — an iTunes or Finder backup that will not restore, or a Time Machine disk that has stopped mounting.
Apple hardware is recovered differently from any other platform, and the reason is encryption. On every Mac since the T2 chip, and on all Apple Silicon machines, the storage is encrypted by the hardware itself whether or not you ever switched FileVault on. That single fact decides what is recoverable long before anyone opens the case.
Why Is Recovering a Mac Different From a Windows Laptop?
On a modern Mac the SSD is soldered to the logic board and paired cryptographically to the T2 or Apple Silicon chip on that same board. Removing the flash and reading it elsewhere produces encrypted noise, because the key never leaves the machine. Recovery therefore depends on reviving enough of the original board to unlock the volume — a repair problem as much as a data one.
Older Macs are far more forgiving. Intel MacBooks up to roughly 2016, and iMacs of the same era, use removable SATA or NVMe drives that can be imaged conventionally. Establishing which generation you have is the first thing we do, because it is the difference between a routine job and a board-level one.
APFS adds its own wrinkle. Snapshots, clones and containers mean a “deleted” file sometimes still exists inside a snapshot and can be pulled back cleanly — but a corrupted container can also hide an entire healthy volume from the Finder while the data sits perfectly intact underneath.
What Should You Do Before Bringing an Apple Device In?
Find your Apple Account password and, if FileVault was on, the recovery key. Without one of them an encrypted Mac stays encrypted.
Do not accept an Apple Store replacement or board swap before the data is off — swapped hardware is wiped, and the data goes with it.
Do not reinstall macOS or run First Aid repeatedly on a drive that is failing. Both write to it.
If liquid is involved, shut it down and leave it off. Do not charge it to check whether it survived.
Check what is already in iCloud before assuming the worst. Photos and Messages often sync more than people expect.
Can Data Be Recovered From an iPhone That Will Not Turn On?
Sometimes, and it depends on why. A phone that is dead because of a charging port, battery or display fault has intact storage, and reviving the board long enough to extract the data is often achievable. A phone whose logic board has been damaged by liquid corrosion or a heavy impact is a much harder case, because iPhone storage is paired to that board in the same way a Mac's is.
The practical route for most people is the backup they did not realise they had. iCloud, a computer backup, or a partial sync from before the fault frequently holds most of what matters, and checking those costs nothing. iPhone data recovery covers both paths — the device itself and the backups around it.
What About Macs and iMacs Specifically?
Desktop and laptop cases differ enough to be handled separately: MacBook recovery deals mostly with liquid damage, failed boards and soldered storage, while iMac recovery more often involves ageing internal drives and fusion drive splits behind a glued display.
Whichever device it is, the assessment comes first and costs nothing. You get a straight answer on whether the storage is removable, whether encryption is in the way, and what is realistically recoverable — with a fixed quote before any work starts and no charge if nothing comes back.

Laith is fantastic. In every element of his service and support. Very personable, engaging, knowledgeable and understands the critical importance of service to customers. He provided clear information for every step from booking the appointment, was on time for visiting my home for diagnosis + collection and for return of the item (on a weekend!), for what to expect through the diagnostic works, and for the quoting and payment process.

They were both very communicative, knowledgeable and super flexible with pick-ups times. Just outstanding customer service all round. Thanks guys!
The cost depends on the type of device, the nature of the fault and how much work is involved in reaching the data. A logical recovery from a working drive sits at the simpler end, while board-level work on a dead MacBook takes considerably more time and skill. We assess your device for free and give you a fixed quote before anything starts, and if we recover nothing, you pay nothing.
How long does Apple data recovery take?
Straightforward jobs are often completed within a few business days, while complex hardware failures can take longer because of the careful, staged work involved. Mail-in jobs from outside Sydney add shipping time in each direction. We give you a realistic timeframe with your quote and keep you updated as the job progresses.
Can you recover data from a locked or encrypted Apple device?
It depends on what you have. If you know the passcode, password or FileVault credentials, encryption is rarely a barrier to a successful recovery. If a device is encrypted and the credentials are genuinely lost, Apple's security design generally makes the data unrecoverable, and we will tell you that honestly rather than charging you to attempt the impossible.
Should I try recovery software myself before sending my device in?
If the device has a physical fault, running recovery software or repeatedly powering it on can make things worse, particularly with failing drives and liquid damage. DIY tools are only sensible for simple deletions on healthy hardware. When in doubt, power the device off and get a free assessment first — it costs nothing and protects your chances.
Is my personal data kept confidential during recovery?
Yes. Your device and its contents are handled under a documented, secure process, access is limited to the technicians working on your job, and we never browse recovered files beyond what verification requires. Recovered data is returned to you and our working copies are securely removed once the job is closed.
I am not in Sydney — can you still recover my Apple device?
Absolutely. We support clients Australia-wide through a mail-in service, and we will walk you through packing the device safely before you send it. The assessment, quote and No Fix, No Fee terms are exactly the same whether you visit us in Sydney or post your device from interstate.
